Try to see things from your dog’s eyes. It is easy to get frustrated with your dog if they are not learning very basic things quickly or at all. Dog Needs
Your dog needs to lead an active lifestyle. Dogs require mental stimulation to stay happy and healthy. Conditions of boredom are not conducive to training. Your dog needs proper exercise to function to his highest potential. Before every training session, prepare your dog by taking them for a walk.
Your dog needs an hour or more of exercise every day along with any training or bathroom breaks. You need to ensure your dog is exercising, you will get more out of training them. A dog that’s well exercised is a responsive and content dog.
When training a doggy, use primary reinforcement. This technique uses things that your dog loves as rewards. Rewards can be rubbing a dog’s belly or giving it a treat. Doing this will show your dog alternatives for obtaining what he wants appropriately.
Get your dog’s attention the same way every time. Try to use the dog’s name in the start of the command. Get his attention with his name and then follow that with what you want him to do. Dogs listen for their name because they know it means you will say something else.
Only train your pet with positive reinforcement methods. You can use treats, toys, positive speech and even belly rubs. Don’t ever yell at or hit your dog. Not only does it not work, it encourages the belief by the dog that you have no idea what is going on. Be firm, positive and consistent, and you will get great results.
Train your dog to stop barking with a treat. For instance, whenever your dog is barking, hold a treat in front of them and continue to repeat “be quiet” until they quit barking. Once your dog has stopped barking, you can award it with a treat. Repeating this enough times can help them associate the treat with the quiet command.
Use your dog’s name as many times as you can, this will keep his attention on you. Use it often in the early days of training, so your pup learns that he should pay attention to you when you call his name. Give your dog a relatively short name, preferably one that isn’t likely to be confused with other words.
With the right training, both you and your pet can be more relaxed and enjoy life. At the moment, you may believe your dog’s never going to behave. However, being committed to training will have you seeing positive results in no time. If you use these tips, your puppy training will be a success.
